For unknown reasons, the client doesn't try to precache (down in child dirs I've not even cd'd to yet) DESKTOP.INI attributes with Samba 1.9.16p6 on SunOS 4.1.4. However, w/ Samba 1.9.18p4 (and presumably all 17px/18px) on Solaris 2.6, the EXACT client will try to read ahead all the DESKTOP.INI files.

Font Installation Problems
I recently started lookin through a bunch of files and noticed that a lot of programs, files, and folders have a desktop.ini file attached to them. The desktop.ini file has a clsid ..( shell ). this bothers me because it seems to me that this is some sort of link to everything on my system. see the sample below,

Yes, from DOS Prompt: attrib +s +h desktop.ini ..as the GUI doesn't let you modify the system attribute. I'm going to boot into Windows 2000 shortly to see if it hides the said files. I tried this with Shared Pictures, moved the Desktop.ini and re-opened the file. The name had been changed to My Pictures. :o) I do see how the LocalizedResourceName works, thanks to this demo. I also realized that I could have used TweakUI to fix my screwed up folders.
